This passenger vessel caught fire when staying at berth. Our surveyor was called by the hull underwriter for damage survey including the cause investigation and the damaged vessel evaluation. The vessel sank at berth due to excessive water ingression to her engine room, boiler room as well as passenger cabins.
The bulker collided with a chemical tanker in Bohai Bay, our surveyor appointed by her hull underwriters, carried out damage survey, repair monitoring survey and the W.P. survey to the opponent vessel repair in China (bottom left corner). As the local repair price was well known and understood by our surveyor, her also assessed both vessels’ repair costs. It made the parties concerned much easier in final settlement of this collision dispute.
There would be some of collision cases happened locally along northern part coast of China. Thanks to the repair facilities in Dalian, there are Dalian Shipyard, Dalian New Shipyard and Dalian COSCO Shipyard and some small size repair yard as well, they could not only build the VLCC, but also repair all kinds of merchant ships. The Sanjie Maritime surveyors have dealt with many cases of collision damage repairs, speed and angle of blow, repair account assessment and loss of earning determination.
This passenger/truck ferry sustained starboard tail shaft broken during navigation. Luckily, its propeller and propeller shaft was still hanging on her A frame. On behalf of her hull underwriter, we found out the cause of damage by employ metallurgist, applying a lab test, and strength calculation. Our conclusion was finally recognized by both of the ship owner and the hull underwriters
The vessel drifting into sea cultivation area damaged the sea farm. On call of her Hull Underwriter and P & I Club, our surveyor attended to the spot at the possible earliest opportunity and carried out the damage survey to both the sea farm and the vessel. As sufficient information had been supplied to the principle, this case was settled within on month!
Before the oil drilling rig being loaded into a barge, it was found the underneath hull with many leakages, and it would not de-ballast the rig to a requested draft. The divers worked under the direction of our surveyor for several days and stopped all leakages. Finally the rig was managed to requested draft and loaded into the barge safely. The rig intended to Singapore for docking repair.
On behalf of a European P & I Club, our surveyors carried out a pre-entry condition survey to the vessel. And it was found the vessel’s cargo holds shell plating had been in heavy corrosion. By an own-operated thickness test, the shell plating diminution was found to be beyond limit, so the vessel’s official thickness test report was suspected as fake. We fully reported the condition to the Club and the vessel was rejected. Six months later the vessel sank with full load of log near one of Malaysian ports. According to the survival crew, the vessel sustained an ingression in her cargo holds. ( The bottom right corner was a photo taken by our surveyor to the cargo hold shell plating condition).
On behalf of a German Hull Underwriter, we carried out a renewal survey to a container vessel’s CPP boss. A total costs including the cost of first docking in Singapore were also assessed by our surveyor.
The Sanjie Maritime had completed many cases of engineering damages, by reporting to the principles of the actual damage extent, we also tried out best to find out the cause of damage and repairs carried out, and to assess the repair costs.
Sanjie Maritime did carry out a lot of pre-entry condition surveys to both domestic Hull Underwriters and international P & I Clubs. This photo was taken when our surveyor inspected the tightness condition of hatch covers by means of the ultra-sonic leakage detector.
Not only the survey to ships and cargoes, the shore facilities damage survey was also carried out by our surveyor. A container vessel’s ship-crane made a contact to the shore gantry crane, our surveyor, on behalf of the vessel’s P & I Club, attended a joint survey with the port representative, and then settled the case on principle in an easy way.
The pre-shipment and outturn survey, as well as the cargo size measurement for steel products were also our tasks. We have achieved many cases of such surveys on behalf of P & I Clubs, ship owners and other parties concerned.
Some accidents also could happened to the new buildings, we have done several cases concerning this kind of claims in Dalian Shipyard and Dalian New Shipyard in recent years.
